There are plenty of great markets and Christmas markets to support.

Small Business Saturday is Black Friday’s independent rival!  With an abundance of small business promotions, and huge support from consumers, not to mention a whole host of  Christmas fairs and markets taking place, 2016’s Small Business Saturday is predicted to be a swelling success.

Make this weekend big-brand free. Avoid the gloss, avoid the chaos and shop small at one of London’s remarkable markets. Covering North, South, East and West London , here are our Top Market Picks for this coming Small Business Saturday.

East London Markets

The Sutton House Christmas Fair in Central Hackney is a magical way to support Small Business Saturday.  Each room is themed to a different pantomime and there will be live action characters. The Fair will include an indoor winter wonderland featuring designer stalls and high quality food and drink vendors curated by City Showcase.

Take a trip to London Fields in Hackney where you can visit these fabulous four all in one trip! The glory of independence beats through Broadway Market, The School Yard Market, Netil Market and Fount Market. You’ll find an abundance of fresh produce, heart-stomping street food, independent designers, makers and creative artists.

In central East London head to the glorious Old Spitalfields Market (always a winner!), for some undercover small business market shopping.

South London Markets

In Brixton you can get your crafty and foxy kicks at the Christmas Crafty Fox Brixton weekender at the Dogstar, no better way to support Small Business Saturday!

In the same trip you kind of must visit Brixton Village Market and also Brixton’s Station Road Market and POP Brixton, to support the local businesses responsible for leading Brixton into the ultra-hip and independent, creative playground that’s it’s become. Also, in Brixton this Saturday is the Loughborough Junction Christmas Market at the Sunshine Cafe.

Over in Fulham head  to the North End Road Christmas Market to support one of London’s oldest street markets with an array of thriving independent businesses.

If you happen to be in central London, just south of the river, then independent food shopping might be on the agenda at Borough Market. You can also get “Christmassy” and slide over to the Made With Love Christmas Market at the St George the Martyr Church by Borough tube station.

Another Festive South London Market Pick for Small Business Saturday is the Chelsea Christmas Craft Fair taking place at the Town Hall.

North London Markets

For some totally unique, pre-loved small business vintage shopping make your way to the North London Vintage Market where you’ll find some of London’s best vintage, retro and collectables traders.

Wood Green is celebrating Small Biz Saturday in a big way! They have a n array of pop-ups, The Wood Green Christmas Market and Made in Wood Green Market taking place. Find out more.

Camden Passage Market is a charming antiques and collectors market set on an idyllic cobbled London street. Cocooned by an eclectic mix of equally original and fascinating independent shops and boutiques.

For handmade and crafty gifts made with love the Etsy Made Local Crouch End Christmas Market is great Small Business Saturday Market Pick. Featuring over 50 local Etsy sellers, you are guaranteed to shop small and support local.

West London Markets

The Portobello Winter Festival takes place from Friday Dec 2 until Dec Sunday 4 under the canopy at Portobello Green Market and also on Tavistock Square where Kindred Studios are holding a designer/maker market. Lots of independent shopping and festive entertainment too. Portobello Market is a great place to support Small Business Saturday.

Fighting to retain their independence are traders are Shepherds Bush Market. The market remains under threat from developers but it currently still remains a staple of the local community.
