London Street Food Bites Eating Our Way Around London's Markets

Eat Street London
The popularity of street food has completely changed and revived the landscape of London’s markets. Your taste buds can literally travel the world. Here are a few London Street Food Bites that I’ve tried and loved, as featured in our Summer Guide to London’s Markets. Prepare to queue, but you will be rewarded!

The Ribman

The Ribman Brick Lane

Pork ribs that have fallen off the bone after 10 hours simmering on the BBQ, served in a mighty white bap. If you’re hung over you will devour this! If you’re sober you will feel drunk in love afterwards. If you crave a spicy kick then his Holy-Fuck scotch bonnet sauce will rock your world.

Find The Ribman on Brick Lane Street Market (by the railway bridge), every Sunday 9am-2pm. Tweet @theribman

Orange Buffalo

I have longed to try these since reading a review from a homesick New Yorker who swore by the authenticity of Orange Buffalo’s chicken wings. I had them hot, served with a cooling dollop of blue cheese sauce and crunchy celery. You need to lose your inhibitions because they’re messy, but trust me you’ll be rolling around with joy once get stuck in!

Every day at The Old Truman Brewery, Ely’s Yard, London. E1 6QL. Near the Up-Market. Tweet @Orangebuffalo

Bibento

I went for their best-selling Bulgogi chicken with avocado& kimchi in a box to take away. Now I’m not going to lie, I had no idea what I was eating, but I’ll let the pictures do the talking! I have since learned that Kiminchi is a traditional fermented Korean side dish made of vegetables with a variety of seasonings and the chicken in sesame is definitely where the Japanese fusion comes to play. I cherished every colour and every flavour. It was fresh, crunchy and all worked in complete harmony.

Monday –Friday 10am-2pm at Whitecross Street Market, London EC1Y 8JL. Tweet @bibento

Luardos

Mexican street food served from either of their aptly named Jesus and Mary trucks. So are the rumours true, is Luardos really the god of Mexican street food in London? The queue which trailed around the truck and back was definitely a good start. The first thing I judge a burrito on is its weight and my god, the Lurados burrito is definitely a chunky monkey. I went for the chipotle chicken and I was satisfied when the tasty smoke of the chipotle came through. The salsa was a little sour, but the healthy portion of avocado did tame this. I’m still not sure if it beats a Daddy Donkey, but I’m happy to decide that sure on the next visit!

Find Luardos Mon-Friday at Whitecross Street Market. Every Saturday at Brockley Market, Lewisham College Car Park, Lewisham Way, London, SE4 1UT and at Kerb Kings Cross. Tweet @Luardos
