The Blue Market, also known by locals as The Blue Anchor, is located in  Market Place SE16, a pedestrianised square off Southwark Park Road in the heart of Bermondsey ,South London.

Blue Market Saturdays

Blue Market Saturdays is a weekly event with a mixture of the local traders trading during the week plus the Community Opportunity stalls, our market incubator hub for new start-up entrepreneurs to help them develop their ideas and gain experience while trading in the market, many for first time.

If you are looking for handmade local crafts, Bermondsey memorabilia, books, traditional toys, unique gifts, wonderful knitted fashion, vintage and more, Saturday is the perfect day to visit the heart of Bermondsey.

Our fishmonger will be delighted to tell you how cook the fresh catch from the famour Billingsgate Fish Market or get your 5-a-day fruit and veg from Mick’s stall.

We also have The Bicycle Ninja, a professional bicycle mechanic with 19 years’ experience, (Cytech Level 2 qualified) and an experienced bicycle maintenance Tutor teaching City and Guilds Certificate in Cycle Maintenance Level 1 and 2.

Events on Saturdays

Enjoy free activities outdoors while shopping or having a coffee or meal in the square. We are hosting fitness, music and other activities for our visitors, all totally free.

How to get there

The Blue Market is easily accessible by bus connecting to the Canada Water and Surrey Quays. It is only 10 minutes walk from Bermondsey underground and South Bermondsey train stations and served by buses 1, 381 and P12 plus on-street parking available. There are many cafes, pubs and shops and only we are only a few minutes stroll from the Beer Mile and Spa Terminus.

The Blue Market is currently open Wednesday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm runs every week except during Christmas holidays.

Our busiest day is Saturdays, so come and check it out!

Upcoming changes

The market is currently open from Wednesday to Saturday while we are going through an ambitious plan to adapt it to new customers and the demands of modern shopping.

The Blue Bermondsey Business  Improvement District in partnership with Big Local Works, Southwark Council’s and other organisations are working in a longer term strategy for invigorating our historic market to better meet the needs of our changing retail landscape and create more employment opportunities for local people.
