23aug1:00 pm- 2:30 pmMigration of Taste Demonstration Kitchen Residency at Borough Market

Event Details

Borough Market is holding a series of cooking demonstrations on Thursdays throughout August in its Market Hall Demonstration Kitchen to celebrate the influence that the cultural heritage of some of the UK’s most innovative chefs has had on their cooking.

The theme of ‘Migration of Taste’ celebrates Borough Market’s status as an International Market, and the cooking demonstrations will explore how cultural references from different cuisines can be combined with British influences. 5 Exciting chefs will provide culinary inspiration from Asia, Africa, Europe, Central America and the Middle East.

Using unusual ingredients from their birth countries and seasonal ingredients from traders at Borough Market, the chefs will prepare a range of recipes in front of the audience. Recipe cards will be available and visitors will be able to sample the delicious dishes.

The free ‘Migration of Taste’ Cooking Demonstrations will take place in the Demo Kitchen, Market Hall, Borough Market every Thursday throughout August from 1pm – 2.30 pm.

The guest chef on 23rd August: as an English-Irish-Iraqi, Philip Juma has been influenced by both Middle Eastern and modern European cuisine throughout his upbringing and this is reflected throughout his style of cooking today. Philip has taken his experiences from London’s contemporary restaurant scene to translate traditional dishes using modern cooking techniques and Michelin flair, while always staying true to the food’s Iraqi heritage.
