Event Details

Borough Market is holding a series of cooking demonstrations on Thursdays throughout August in its Market Hall Demonstration Kitchen to celebrate the influence that the cultural heritage of some of the UK’s most innovative chefs has had on their cooking.

The theme of ‘Migration of Taste’ celebrates Borough Market’s status as an International Market, and the cooking demonstrations will explore how cultural references from different cuisines can be combined with British influences. 5 Exciting chefs will provide culinary inspiration from Asia, Africa, Europe, Central America and the Middle East.

Using unusual ingredients from their birth countries and seasonal ingredients from traders at Borough Market, the chefs will prepare a range of recipes in front of the audience. Recipe cards will be available and visitors will be able to sample the delicious dishes.

The free ‘Migration of Taste’ Cooking Demonstrations will take place in the Demo Kitchen, Market Hall, Borough Market every Thursday throughout August from 1pm – 2.30 pm.

The guest chef on 30th August: Zoe Adjonyah deepened her understanding of West African cuisine after a trip to visit her extended family in Ghana. She spent time exploring recipes in her grandmother’s kitchen and at the famous Kaneshi street market, where she met with cooks who shared their own takes on traditional recipes. Zoe will take visitors to Borough Market on a food journey, introducing African flavours which can be enjoyed at home.
